Only Luke. . .
That Smile
“My favorite memory of Luke isn’t a specific thing on a specific day. It’s his goofy grin when he was doing something silly. It was an extention of the energy he brought to the fun and sometimes to the absurd. It was a grin that pulled you in and made you want to be a part of whatever was going on. That grin made burning couches seem like a reasonable idea. Of course we would burn couches. That grin made a tromp through the woods into an adventure. When I think of Luke. When I think of all he brought into my life. Of our friendship and our fun I think of that grin. That is most dear memory of him.”

That Panache
One thing I will always remember is his ability to articulate things in a different way. Whether it be funny, creative, intelligent. His ability to use words in a unique way. Unfortunately, I just discovered I have lost my old emails. However, since I previously shared this one with someone, it remains as a prime example of what I’m talking about and it follows below…
“i look my adversary in the eye.
i have no remorse. i have no compasion. there is no uniting bond between us, we contenders in the game of life and death.
i eye my opponet once again, sizing him up. i can’t let him win now, not after i’ve gotten this far . . . . . not after the trials i’ve gone through to get here . . . . . . here at the top.
i’d like to think that somewhere, there was a group shouting ‘mason! mason! mason!’ but alas there were no spectators. it was just me an my arch rival, the last sugar powdered doughy goodness of a mini doughnut. that last lone survivor of his crew of one dozen was staring at me . . . . . eye balling me. . . . . taunting me. . . . . . i knew i was full and he knew it too. there wasn’t anymore milk left. just me and him. i reached down and did a check on the boys and made sure they were still with me. i crabbed the tasty little devil . . . . raised him to me mouth . . . and . . .. ate . . . . that . . . little . . . mother . . . fucker.
yes, its all a day in the life of lucas mason, paratrooper extrodinair.
eat thy you know what.
eat thine bacon.”

That Jab
“Luke learned Taekwando in 1996-1997 and attained red belt.
Once during sparring practice i knew i had met my match when he accidentally cracked two of my ribs.
After that it “goes easy on the old man son” Lol”
